The month of August 2017 was an excellent month for Chilean wine exporters. Shipments of bottled wine increased 9.2% in volume and 12% in value. These results were driven by exports of premium wines, whose boxes are worth over US $ 60.
During August, exports of 5.4 million cases of bottled wine were registered, equivalent to US $ 159.9 million. The average price grew 2.5%, reaching US $ 29.5 per box. So far this year, the accumulated industry has grown 5.1% in volume, compared to 2016, reaching 36.9 million boxes (US $ 1,028.5).
Following the trend of the last year, China and Brazil lead the destinations of Chilean exports. Shipments to China grew 24.4% in volume and 29.1% in value. In terms of Brazil, they increased by 23.5% and 26%.
In the last 12 months China maintains its leadership among the main destinations, with US $ 231 million (7.37 million boxes). It is followed by the United States, with US $ 176 million (6.2 million boxes). In third place Japan and Brazil, in the fourth place.
The most significant performance was recorded by the United Kingdom, which continues to fall by 14.5% in volume and -18.9% in value.
