www.cortahojas.com /Premium wines and bulk wines .- Although in April this year, exports of bottled Chilean wine decreased by 3.5% in volume and 6.2% in value, compared to the same period last year, shipments during the month of May registered an increase of 4, 9% by volume and 1.5% by value.
This increase is explained mainly by the good performance of the Chinese markets (shipments grew 49% in volume and 49.3% in value) and Brazil (29.5% in volume and 28.2% in value).
In the first months of the year, Chilean export wines grew at important rates, above the 10% that had been projected. The Brazilian market has shown growth over 20%, the same happens in China, which already shows an increase of about 17%.
The growth of wine exports to China has grown double-digit for quite some time, for most Chilean vineyards. Five years ago China did not exceed 5% of Chilean exports, and today it is already surpassing 15%. This country has gigantic potential and will continue to grow.
Cabernet Sauvignon is the most consumed strain in China and also worldwide. However the Chilean carménère is a strain that is growing among the Chinese consumer preferences, mainly in high quality wines, premium wines.
While Brazil has been in a crisis, the statistics of recent months show that the sale of Chilean wine has grown significantly.
