The wineries begin to expand their family of labels in bag in box format. Currently, there are already several vines that are beginning to change the 750 cm3 bottle for bax in box packaging. Even many high-end wines are also available in “premium boxes”, which reach 3 liters, which is equivalent to about four bottles. However, being a much cheaper packaging, the price is equivalent to three bottles.

The blend wines are also adding to the bag in box presentation. Before it had been very strong in white wines, but now the red wine is entering with quite good acceptance by consumers.

From the strictly oenological, there is a potential of these varieties that was not being fully exploited, since only before Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot were used in niche products of the highest ranges.

What is the bag in box
The bag in box consists of a box that contains a plastic and airtight bag that protects the wine until the moment of its use, with a discharge valve that allows the emptying of the bag housed inside a cardboard box.
When working with vacuum, during use, the bag in box prevents oxidation of the wine, by not allowing oxygen to enter. And once opened, it allows to keep the product in good condition for at least two months, although there is evidence that the wine tolerates periods of three or four months without problems.

Another advantage is the price: as stated, there are wineries that are selling boxes with a content equivalent to four bottles but at the price of three.

To this is added that it is more environmentally friendly than the glass container and that due to its size, shape and weight, it saves up to 40% of space in a container, reducing the cost of freight and generating less emissions, in the case of exports.
