The Chilean wine industry starts the year with good and everyone celebrates. This is because in the report developed by the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa), belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture of Chile, all exports of wine and must (juice extracted from grapes) increased by 12.7% in January 2019, in relation to the same month of the previous year.

Only wine exports increased in volume 14.5%, while the value of shipments rose 6.8%, according to Odepa.

The exports that better numbers achieved in the first month of this year were those of wine in bulk, with a violent jump of 51.5%. Those with denomination of origin achieved a rise of 2.6% and bulk musts scored a rise of 1.2%.
The value of wine exports in bulk in its average price showed an increase of 8.8% in twelve months.

However, there are some figures that warn, since exports of the category “other wines” fell by 41.8%. Specifically, shipments of wines in containers between 2 and 10 liters decreased by 27.8%, followed by wines with fruit pulp (-19.4%) and sparkling wines (-9%).
