The interest in wine has been such that there has been an explosion in demand. The way Chinese people drink wine is also changing. A report by Goldman Sachs and Gao Hua Securities discovered that the biggest drinkers in China are traditionalists, opting for white alcohol (baijiu), while young people tend to prefer Western wine. In 2017, China imported 746 million liters of wine (in bulk and bottled) for a value close to US $ 2,800 million. These figures show an increase of 16.9% in volume and 18% in value compared to the previous year. The volume of wines imported into China has doubled since 2013.

It was a powerful strategy that was successful. Since that year, the Asian country has become the main consumer market for Chilean wine, surpassing the US, which led the purchases until 2015. Chile is the fourth exporter worldwide of wines in absolute values, with more than 200 wineries exporting your products to China.
The successful results of this initiative have prompted the Chilean wine industry to program similar activities especially focused on new millennial consumers (young people between 20 and 35 years old).
