During the period, exports of bottled wine registered an increase of 9.2% in volume and 12% in value. These figures were driven by exports of wine boxes of between 40 and 50 dollars and boxes of over 60 dollars, which in other words is known as Premium wines. The first increased by 30% and the premium by 17%.

With these numbers, the month of August ended with the shipment of 5.4 million boxes of bottled wine, equivalent to US $ 159.9 million. The average price grew by 2.5%, reaching US $ 29.5 per case.

So far this year, the industry has grown 5.1% in volume, compared to 2016, reaching 36.9 million boxes (US $ 1,028.5).

The category that carries the highest increases between January and August is US $ 20 / case (6.4%), followed by US $ 30-40, case 6.2%) and then, above US $ 60 (5.9%).

China prefers Chilean wines for export
The countries that contribute to the good results of August are China and Brazil, which have become the most important destinations for Chilean wines for export. Exports to China grew 24.4% in volume and 29.1% in value so far this year, and Brazil grew 23.5% in volume and 26% in value.

In the last twelve months, China maintains its leadership among the main destinations, with US $ 231 million (7.37 million boxes), followed by the US, with US $ 176 million (6.2 million boxes). Brazil, on the other hand, is in the fourth place, shortening more and more the gap with Japan.

The surprise in the accumulated of the year gave Canada, with a rise of 10.1%. Meanwhile, from the opposite lane, the worst performance was recorded by the United Kingdom, which continues to fall by 14.5% in volume and -18.9% in value.

Although the US is the second main destination, so far this year accumulates a decline of 4.3% in volume and -5.7% in value.
