Learn more about Chilean wines and Chilean wines Premium.- / The Chilean vineyards are working to rescue the semillon strain. It is a vine strain from the southwest of France. In the 60’s it was the most planted white grape in Chile, reaching more than 30 thousand hectares of vineyards. This variety was the favorite, since with it they became the best targets of Chile. The golden skin of the fruit allowed the producers to make dry and sweet wines. In the 80’s, Chile began to export its wines and new varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, displaced Semillon.

Currently in Chile, there are 950 hectares planted by Semillon. Most are in the Maule region. Many of them are currently a living heritage of Chile’s wine history.

The Chilean vineyards of Maule have been organized to rescue this versatile variety and seek to add other wineries to join the initiative.

The Semillon is yellow with golden ribbons, clean and bright. In the nose it presents a ripe lemon and pear aroma that intermingle. In the mouth it is fresh with a soft texture, even, creamy with great body, balanced with a clean acidity that brings freshness and vibrancy.
