To everyone’s surprise … at least for us, the Vatican State leads the list of most wine consumed per capita. This small independent state has an average per capita consumption is 54.26 liters per year.
The list seconded the Principality of Andorra, which has just over 80,000 inhabitants, who consume 42.5 liters of wine per year on average per person.
Uruguay is the only place outside Europe that appears at the top, is ranked No. 12, with 29.19 liters of per capita consumption.
And Chile?
In 2015, the sale of alcoholic beverages in Chile increased from 919.8 million, up 3% compared to 2014 (894 million liters). According to WHO data, men consume on average 13.8 liters of alcohol and women, 5.5 liters.
In the same period, wine sales increased 6.3%.
